Deirdre Anne

Deirdre Anne Hendrick is the editor of The Last Grotto and a philosopher of technology working at the intersection of law, code, and critical systems. A retired U.S. Army JAG Corps officer, they focus on governance, risk, and control in high-stakes technical and national security environments.

They hold a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and professional certifications including the CISA, the Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA), the GICSP, and a graduate certificate in cybersecurity from the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace. They are completing an M.A. in Philosophy at the University of Texas at San Antonio, with research on historical silences, archival resistance, and transgressive historiography.

Their work spans operational testing of AI and weapons systems, cybersecurity audit, and GRC consulting. Deirdre also teaches ethics and philosophy at Northeast Lakeview College.

As editor, they publish and solicit work from contributors across the Last Grotto community — poetry, philosophy, and whatever else members bring. Guest writers are welcome. The range is genuinely open: if it’s reasonably well-argued or well-crafted, it has a home here.
